Longest WIP ever

Many, many moons ago, when I were but a nipper I put in an order for random bits and pieces from GW mail order. I picked up a few odds and sods with no real goal. Rule of cool and all that. I only actually started to paint one guy, and I thought that the bold red basecoat was a decent start point.

Yes, here is my tech priest dude...

I also built a couple of plasma cannon servitors...

And here are the team. The colours come out a bit better here...

Think I may go back and dirty up the tech priest but overall I'm pretty happy with how he turned out.

More sneaky types

Here are the rest of the squad. I put some effort in the build to make them look a bit more important than the others. I think of these as squad leader and his number 2.

Sneaky Ratlings

Painted up the first few Ratling conversions. I'm not that happy with how they turned out, to be honest. I tried a few new things out and they kind of back fired in general I think. Fairly disappointed but I'm glad to have them done.

These guys are based on some mantic dwarfs (dwarves?) with some IG bits mixed in and the sniper rifles are from Anvil Industry, which are just fantastic.

Old Commissar Done

Love this old commissar with a power fist chap. Overall I'm happy with how he turned out. I think he needs a bit of gold on his shin pads though

In this picture he would suit some sort of electric guitar...

And here he is with his buddy from the other week..

New Commisar Done

Painted up this fella. The hat is a bit ridiculous, but I'll take it! Quite like the blue on his coat lining. I also approve of his trousers though I have no idea how what colours I used to mix that particular hue.

Commander dude painted!

No, that is bot his name. Need to come up with that. Got this guy finished. Tried a few different things out on the coat and ended up starting from scratch a few times. Anyway, done now! I even spotted that I had the shoulder targeting doodad on back to front. Totally fixed!

As ever the base still needs to be finished and I am pretty rubbish at painting faces.

A Game! 1500 pts Imperial Guard vs Bloodangels

Yup. Got a game in the other week. 1500 pts. My WIP guard versus my buddy Ste's awesome bloodangels. I can't really remember what happened in much detail, but it went a little something like this...

Jingly Jangly Primaris & Some team photos

Yup the third and final primaris, With the bells. Ding dong merrily on high.

Ok, some thoughts. I really like that flagellants kit. So many useful bits and bobs that really make a difference. By combining those and some scion and grey knight stuff acquired from ebay I have produced some really quite unique looking miniatures.

I tried to push my painting as well. I experiments with washes in terms with what can be achieved. I like the guy with the white robes. Somehow I managed a fairly decent blend effect from the ground upwards. I tried doing the same with the other guys but ended up with mixed and less impressive results I think. Anyway. Overall I am well chuffed.

I also walked around some bits of cheshire on a misty day...

Bookish Primaris

Yup the psyker with a trusty tome of forbidden knowledge. Some sort of necronomicon exmortis type thing I hope. Boosh...

Firey primaris

Remember those primaris dudes i built a while back? Well their turn for painting has come round. Here is the first...

So I'm pretty happy with this guy but I'm gonna wait until all three are done before I start pondering...

The rest of the special weapons squad

And here are the plasma gunner types...

And all together...

On the whole pretty happy with how they turned out. I tried to make them fit in with the regular dudes, but appear a bit more elitey at the same time. Think in hindsight the regular fellas should have some gloves. I mean they are hazardous environment soldiers or somet, and they appear to be massively lacking in PPE.

Also played some Terror in Meeple City. This is a bit of an action shot with a monster totally wiping out a tower block. Proper boss game. Does take a while to set up tho...

Dr Angry is on his rounds

Yup, the Dr with the bedside manner of a megaphone got some paint on him.

Quite like the light blue on the helmet. I'm thinking that that may now become a 'thing'...

Non special special weapons dudes

Got the first half of the forgeworld special weapons squad done. I used scion legs and the final result is ok. There is just so much detail that I found it hard to resist trying to use many different colours and making a right mess...

Also i'm beginning to suspect that this forgeworld stuff ain't all that, especially when it comes to the added cost. I think I will ponder more on this before making overly outrageous claims.

Quick, look busy

Thats right, some sergeants got themselves painted. Now all these rank and file types have no excuse for not being proper military types...

Loving those flagellant bits...
